March Madness has officially begun....

March Madness!!

This year it means something COMPLETELY different for us.
(no, we will not be cutting down any nets!)

Sweet Sixteen...
(we hope to move in on the 16th of this month!)
Final Four...
(these are our final four weeks before we have a new address!)

EEEEEK!

Yes, we are ready for the madness to ensue....I think

;)

Here is a little math for you :

 Take trim....

ahem.....

*side note*
moi hand painted all the trim, casing base and those stupid little plinth blocks!
24-16 foot sticks of base, 12-16 foot sticks of trim, and 36 blocks total.....
2 freakin coats!!

+

Activator Spray....

+

"Jel" Adhesive....

** 2P-10 is a two part ten second bond adhesive.
Just apply the adhesive, then spray the activator and stick it together for a strong permanent bond.

see the end piece that the Stig "bonded" to the trim?

*wall color: SW On the Rocks

Yay!

I love LOVE the way it turned out.
I told ya the Stig was ahhh~mazing!!

 *wall color: Vanderbilt Grey

It is EXACTLY the custom, vintage look I was going for.
The windows and doors just POP now.
Gorgeous.

And here is our new built-in waiting for the painter:

Antique glass going in the uppers.
Bin pulls for the drawers.
Glass knobs for the upper doors.
Nice bright white "Alabaster" paint from Sherwin Williams soon......
L.O.V.E

And here is the kitchen, waiting for its dose of "Alabaster" too:

If you dont remember, we got all these cabinets for "free"...
my favorite "F" word
:)

We did have our cabinet guy do some modifications on them...
added beadboard to the sides of all the cabinets and island,
had him take out the trash compactor cabinet and make a mixer lift cabinet,
cut a hole in the island for our microwave drawer,
modified oven upper for baking sheet/pan vertical storage.

Last nite we celebrated all of our hard work with a couple beers....

hey,
it is March Madness after all!!

:)

** ps - if you get a chance, please stop by my lovely friend Clare's blog......
she recently started blogging again and has set a personal goal to
gain new followers!

She was so thoughtful and generous to recently send a gift my way last week:

handmade lavender sachet
this one is available in her shoppe!
(mine is a lovely linen heart shaped sachet - *love*)

the smell of lavender has been so heavenly in the new house
(much better than sawdust, drywall and paint fumes!!)

Please stop by and say hi to her...she is truly a doll!!

I love the colours you picked. They look brilliant! See? All that agonising was sooooo worth it!

I didn't know that you could buy antique glass, as you're doing for the cabinet. What a great idea to give immediate character. I'm so looking forward to seeing what you do in the next few months.
