Sweaty Eyeballs & Frog Balls

Holy Heatwave Batman....

It has been a scorcher here in Cali this past week!
Im talkin' over a 100 degrees everyday....
Yeah -
stinkin' H O T

So much for Fall, huh?!
(after I busted my tall boots out and everything...sheesh)

Kinda of hard to get into the crisp, cool Autumn feeling
when your eyeballs are sweating
( What.... I seriously thought my eyeballs were sweating at some point)

On a good note, all of our tomatoes ripened in one weekend.
I think we had everything with tomatoes.....

I added them to a pasta salad
Made a big ol' green salad with about 10 tomatoes in it
Cut up some small ones and poured sprinkled salt on and ate em up :)
Oh and two words - CUCUMBER SALAD
(with tomatoes and red onion - yum)

Sorta tomato'ed OUT at this point.

We have a few cucumbers and squash that are still on their vines
and all of our chili peppers....
(a buttload of them!)

No mo green beans :(
(so sad  -these are my fav)

No mo snap peas :(

But...
we still have these guys waiting to "sprout"

 How cool are they?!
We actually planted them by accident....

The Stig was driving home from work one day and noticed
an agriculture truck had dropped a flat of little seedlings
(we live in aggie land)

Being the rescuer that he is,
he pulled over and put them in the back of his truck

 All 100 of them.....
seriously.

We have a nice sized backyard, but there was no way in hell
we were planting 100 seedlings!

And we didnt even know what they were.

We took guesses......

At first we thought it was broccoli
Then, maybe cabbage.....

Then, we were like W.T.F?!

About 3 weeks ago we noticed little "nubs" growing on the stalk.
My MIL said "I think you have brussel sprout plants!"

I could only think of one word....
GROSS.

Of all the vegetables in the world, the only one I cant stand -
Brussel Sprouts
(my brothers used to refer to them as "condensed farts" - LOL)

There are only 2 things that I have ever done with brussel sprouts...
(well, 3 if you count burying them in my napkin and flushing them down the toilet as a kid)

 #1.  Brussel Sprout Casserole
I made a casserole last year at Thanksgiving
Surprisingly, it was the hit of the dinner !
I will have to post the recipe when we get closer to Turkey Day
It involves lots of cream and cheese - feel better?

#2.   Frog Balls
Have you ever heard of them?
They are DELICIOUS!
Pickled Brussel Sprouts....Oh...Em....Gee
You wont even know you are eating Brussel Sprouts
(well, at least until they hit you the next day in the potty)

Anyhoo -
We are gonna have a crapload of brussel sprouts very soon -

And if I show up at your door
with Brussel Sprout casserole......
just go with it, mmmmmkay?

Its Officially Fall Y'all!

Can you tell I *heart* Fall ?!

It really is my favorite season of the year....

The Stig and I were married in the fall
October 6th to be exact
:)

And in honor of our anniversary that is poppin' up again
(wow!)
I wanted to show you some Autumn-flaired
wedding inspiration.....

~~~~~~~~~~
Im starting with my favorite inspiration photo:
I seriously *swoon* everytime I see this picture.
{sigh}
Oh how I wish we had a barn.....
I would let people have weddings in our barn if we did!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Rustic wood signs
 ~~~~~~~
The vintage touches of this wedding are so sweet
I love the crate display boxes
and the bouquets....
(similar to mine on my wedding day - see header photo above)
 ~~~~~~~~~~~

Imagine bridesmaids wearing these in their hair:

 How cute is the "just married" sign on the back of the vintage car?!
Not to mention a gorgeous bride....
~~~~~~~~~~~~
This "just married" banner is quite fallish, dont ya think?
~~~~~~~~~

What a cute idea!
Love the leaves underneath and especially the woody "stems".....
~~~~~~~
Gorgeousness of a cake....
~~~~~~~

I simply adore the vintage baseball theme
of this wedding
The Stig totally would have went for this!
Vintage with a hint of masculinity.....
How cute is the "concession vendor" passing out favors :)

(oh, and check out their cleats under their wedding attire-so sweet!)
~~~~~~~~~~~
this lace garter ....
What about using yardage of vintage grain sack
as your wedding aisle runner?
You have to send out lovely thank you's....
The Road Less Traveled
{photo courtesy of PhotograBee}
While perusing one of my favorite websites
{if you havn't heard of it then get your booty over there NOW!}
I came across this print from PhotograBee.
It is titled "The Road Less Traveled..."
with a quote in the description
from Robert Frost:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

"Two roads diverged in a wood, and I —

I took the one less traveled by,

And that has made all the difference."

-Robert Frost

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This quote and photo really struck deep inside of me.
You see.....
I once took a road less traveled.
Actually, at times it felt as if
there had never been any other travelers on this road.
It was a road that looks similar to the beautiful picture above.
Gray
Unclear
Barren
Not knowing or seeing what lies past the road
 Scared
Alone
Doubtful
One day I will share my thoughts and memories
of that road that I took.
But you see
after that long, dark journey.......
the one in which I chose
one fork in the road,
over the other fork....
I emerged a different person
I found myself.
Found who "I" really was.
And eventually.....
led me down another road.....
that led me to the person
that I was always meant to be with.....
Be strong.
Be courageous.
Be unafraid.....
Be YOU.
"The greatest mistake you can make in life is to be continually fearing you will make one."
~Elbert Hubbard, The Note Book, 1927
Fall Decorating Inspiration
Did you miss me??
No?!
Ha ha.....
Well, I have missed me.
I hate when we get super busy with life
and the brakes to slow down just dont seem to work.....
Time for the E-brake!
{*tires squeeling to a halt*}
We have been going and going lately.
So much so, that I forgot what our home looked like
or how my bed felt to sleep in!
Phhewwww......!!
I am sooo ready for some fall inspiration
how 'bout you?
I wanna put on my fall boots and grab a cup of cocoa
and go traipsin' in this :
My dear friend Clare is so unbelievably crafty!
This wreath is sooo me :)
Love me some burlap punkins! Middleburg always has
the coolest seasonal things....
Tell me fabric leaves dont just scream Autumn!
I need this on my farmhouse table with gourds and mini pumpkins:
Donna's eye and creativity is amazing!
I heart those book page leaves on the wreath....
 This guy is so adorable!
I am the owner of this lovely banner.
Sshhhh....dont tell the Stig!
I just had to have a lil new somethin' for my fall decorating collection :)
This necklace paired with a warm and fuzzy scarf:
 I think I have hearted everyone of their pillows in their collection!
Frame a couple of these in a vintage window
or throw a few on your mantelscape....
How cute would this be for a trick-or-treat
loot bag?!
These are the cutest lil punkin tags ever :)
 I want these all over my house.....yummy linen!
Who?!
Gotta love owls for fall.....
White leaves and jute
*swoon*
 Do you go hay ridin' for apple picking and pumpkins?
We do!
Haha....love the drunk skeleton wine bag!
Oh yes.....this is me.
A warm and yummy pumpkin latte in this puppy.....
cozyin' up with the Stig by the fire
I love her trees.....felt leaves and a real tree trunk
I got these in green with red berries and acorns
for a Christmas party last year -
Love em!
So....
are you in the mood yet?
Unfortunately for me, I am taking the fall season of decorating off
Booo....
:(
With the move
and all of the remodeling work
it just ain't gonna happen
And I am really bummed........
Fall is one of my favorite times of the year
and I have always loved the warm colors in our home
Oh well......
Our goal is to have the house liveable for Christmas time though!
You better believe that we will have a tree up!
I gotta make sure Santa knows that I moved...hehehe
:)
So tell me -
Have you started your Fall decorating yet?
Whats your favorite thing you do to your home
to change with the season?
